Hello everyone! Thanks for stamping by. Here is another project share to catch you up on - a masculine birthday card. I used a navy blue panel and drew lines with a Versamark pen. I used gold embossing powder over the lines. I embossed a coordinating birthday sentiment in the same gold embossing powder. In honesty, I was expecting cleaner lines. I used a ruler and an embossing buddy, but I still had a lot of stray powder flecks. I like it effect, but at the same time I don't. At the time, I wasn't' have to try and make the card again (had to make and give it the same day). The recipient never knows what you had in mind didn't turn out like you thought. They just know you took the time to make a handmade card with them in mind! That's the bigger gift (IMO). Tell me: When something doesn't quite work out for your card, what do you do? Thanks for stamping by. I have another project share to catch you up on. The top card grew out of the scrap panel I had. I used a big floral stamp by Mama Elephant to create a background. I added a vellum piece, embossing in gold using the same floral stamp. I trimmed it out and added some natural jute with small stickers to complete my sentiment (welcome baby). This turned out to be a very elegant card for a mother to be. The second card used various patterned papers, vellum and stickers. I also added balloons in the upper left for the elephant to hold that said "baby boy" but I could not find the photo to share (my apologies!). This card was for a cousin of mine and I had her invitation colors in mind when making the card (blues, greys, elephant). I like to add this type of extra personalization to a card. Makes for a special touch. When I can, I try to add in embossing to my cards. Tell me: Do you have a "signature" technique you like to include on your cards? Leave a comment below. |
