Happy Halloween everyone!
I have a few upcoming posts that will run through some of the current crafty events/items this past month. Earlier this month I traveled to Scrapbook Island Creative Escape to attend a demo by the Kelly Marie Alvarez of Lawn Fawn! *cue fan girl squeal here* They hosted a card class that I was unable to attend, but was able to make the make and take demo the following day. What a pleasure to be able to meet Kelly and try out the new LF product. What a great store they have! It is really refreshing to have a mom and pop store still around. I really loved the set up, They had a ton of product that you can't always find in the big box stores! Of course I had to walk away with something (also helped that Scrapbook Island was generous to give a 10% discount for those who attended the demo). I certainly walked away with a lighter wallet. I am looking forward to using this treat box for my sister's bridal shower for her take-away treat! Lawn Fawn/Scrapbook Island Haul: Inkadinado Masking Paper Hero Arts Cubes: (1), Jayne's (Nelson) Blush (AF353), (2) May's (Park) Shades of Teal (AF352) Lawn Fawn Die Cuts: (1) Put a Bow on it, (2) Scalloped Treat Box Lawn Fawn Stamp: Winter Bunny (lil guy was too cute!!) Darice: Foam Brushes Hello again everyone! Last item to share for the moment. I used this DCWV create a card set from my recent Michael's haul by coloring them with my Prisma Watercolor Pencils. I thought about using my gamsol on this, but through to leave them as they were. I only did half of the panels provided and they came together quickly! I think these would also look nice colored with Copics markers, Tombow markers or even Zig Clean Clear markers Although with the markers, there will more than likely bleed through, so you might need an additional panel to camouflage. I also want to try out water coloring these (even though the paper is not watercolor paper), I think if you keep things on the drier side, should be okay, will see how that experiment goes! Only critique is that you will need to slightly trim the pattern image. There was just a very minimal (but noticeable) overhang. Other options for using these panels is to put them full frontal on a card base of your own so the full image is shown. Each of the pre-cut card bases have a die cut panel to pop out. I want to reuse those die cuts with some of my other stamps and build them into other holiday cards. Looking forward to getting started on more holiday cards and other crafty projects to share with you. Also, some exciting crafty news to share very soon! Thanks for stamping by! Hi again everyone!
A quick "haul" from Michael's Stocked up for the moment on my tape runner. refills. (is it ever enough??) Grabbed some easy tear tape for the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Treat box (Just don't want to fiddle with tape runner or liquid glue for that project!) Some Christmas related items: (1) Designs Cuts with a View - There are various ones re: create a card sets (Some have embellishments). I thought this one gave the most bang for your buck. 16 cards for $7.99. Some of the other sets were 6 - 8 cards for the same price. (2) Art-C stamp set. Price was right (about $3.99) There were two of three other sets I would have liked to pick up for that price, but I did my best to contain myself...) Thanks again for stamping by! Hi Everyone! Keeping things rolling with the posts! Two of the cards in this post used this My Favorite Things This Week's Sketch 161.. I have a growing Pinterest board of card sketches and I found inspiration with this one. One thing I like when I use card sketches is that it gets me into pattern papers that I have been neglecting/hoarding. The "fondness" card used - pattern papers from a Simon Says Card Kit (2015) - Spellbinder's die Shapeabilities Die D-Lites Petite Labels 1 - Doodle Bug Lily White Glitter Enamel dots - Sentiment: Hero Arts Stamp and Cut (alpha) - Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Blush (SSS) and Lilac Roses (Momento) sponged onto the tag - Vellum (Joann crafts) - Card base (Neenah solar white) The birthday card used - pattern paper from My Mind's eye - Spellbinder's die Shapeabilities Die D-Lites Petite Labels 1 - Sentiment: Stampendous Happy Messages (I think this was one of my first stamp sets!) - Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distressed Inks sponged onto the tag -Card base (Neenah solar white) This third card was a sympathy card I made using pattern papers from one my Simon Says Stamp card kits (2015). I had this scrap piece of paper with the circle die cut (because I just couldn't part with the pattern paper). It just inspired me to keep things simple and backed it with another pattern paper from that card kit behind it. I really liked how it turned out. I sponged a spellbinder's tag with some Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distressed Inks. I added the jute (Micheal's) for a bit of texture and dimension. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts (CL342) mixed sentiment set . Card base is Neenah Solar White. Thanks for stamping by!
